Privacy policy

Pinata Chrome extension · Effective 15 October 2026

The short version

Pinata runs entirely inside your browser. It does not collect, store, sell or send your personal data to us or to anyone else. There are no accounts, no analytics and no tracking.

What Pinata does

Pinata exports images from Pinterest boards, web pages and folders on your computer as a ZIP file or an MP4 video. It also adds a Save button to images on the web and keeps a tray of images you choose to collect.

Information we collect

None. The developer of Pinata does not receive any information about you, the sites you visit, the boards you open or the files you use. Pinata has no server of its own.

Information stored on your device

To work, Pinata keeps a small amount of information in your browser's own extension storage. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.

  • Your tray. For each image you add: the image's web address, the address and title of the page it came from, and when you added it.
  • Sites where you've turned off the hover buttons. Just the site names. If you use Chrome sync, Chrome may sync this list between your own devices through your Google account.

You can clear the tray at any time with Clear tray. Removing Pinata from Chrome deletes everything it has stored.

Pinterest boards

When you click the Pinata icon on a Pinterest board, Pinata asks Pinterest for that board's pins using the session you're already signed in with. The request goes directly from your browser to Pinterest, the same way the page itself loads pins. Pinata does not see or store your Pinterest password, and nothing from your account is sent to us.

Images and files

  • When you export, images are downloaded straight from the sites that host them to your browser, then packed into a ZIP or video on your computer.
  • Folders and files you open in Pinata are read inside your browser only. They are never uploaded.
  • Videos are encoded on your computer using Chrome's built-in tools.

Saving to Pinterest

When you click Save, Pinata opens Pinterest's own save window with the image and page address filled in. Anything you do in that window is handled by Pinterest under Pinterest's privacy policy.

Pinata is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If Pinata ever needs to handle data differently, this page will be updated before that change ships, and the effective date above will change.
